Film ini diadaptasi dari buku cerita fantasi karangan William Joyce yang berjudul "The Guardians of Childhood". Film ini berkisah tentang berkumpulnya para tokoh pahlawan dalam dunia dongeng untuk melawan kekuatan jahat yang berusaha menghancurkan impian anak-anak. Para pahlawan tersebut terdiri dari "North"/ Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), "Bunnymund"/Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), "Tooth" the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), Jack Frost (Chris Pine) serta tokoh jahatnya the Boogeyman (Jude Law).
